Cavalry FC beat Forge FC 2-1 in the second leg of their Canadian Championship second round tie at ATCO Field at Spruce Meadows Tuesday night. The Cavs won the two-game series 3-2 on aggregate – the clubs drew 1-1 in the first leg of the series in Hamilton last week.

Forge FC took the lead in the 14th minute thanks to a Kyle Bekker strike. But Cavalry FC equalized before halftime via a Dominique Malonga header in the 42nd minute. Sergio Camargo scored the winner in the second half in the 58th minute.

Cavalry FC will now play Major League Soccer’s Vancouver Whitecaps in the next round, with matches slated to take place July 10 and July 24.

Cavalry FC‘s next Canadian Premier League match is against FC Edmonton, hosted by its northern rivals at Clarke Field, Saturday, June 15. Forge FC host Winnipeg’s Valour FC the same day.
